Lamborghini: Stephan Winkelmann Ceo

Lamborghini: Stephan Winkelmann returns as Ceo

The official return to the Casa del Toro of the German manager, former CEO from 2005 to 2016, is shortly missing to replace Stefano Domenicali.

The domino effect caused by the exiting of historic team principal Chase Carey from Formula 1 is now nearing its conclusion. Stefano Domenicali will leave Automobili Lamborghini to replace Carey in F1, while the current Bugatti President Stephan Winkelmann will become CEO of the Sant’Agata Bolognese company.

Stephan Winkelmann: creator of the Lamborghini Urus

It is not a new role for the German, from 2005 to 2016 he was at the helm of the Lamborghini brand leaving a great memory. He was the architect of the birth of Urus and during its management he signed an important agreement for the expansion of the Sant’Agata factory.

From 2016 to 2018 he served as President of Audi‘s sports division and later held the same position at Bugatti. It was here that he started the production of the fabulous super sports cars Divo and Centodieci, the Voiture Noire for Ferdinand Piech, the 1,825 hp hypercar Bolide, as well as the limited edition Chiron.

Lamborghini: Stephan Winkelmann Ceo. The return of the German executive is part of a wider picture, the Volkswagen group is in fact working on the Lamborghini spin-off (together with Ducati and Italdesign) while Bugatti could be sold to Rimac, the Croatian manufacturer of high performance electric cars.

Stephan Winkelmann’s official Lamborghini deal is expected to arrive by the end of this month, even if the Emilian brand in Gazzetta Motori has already given the return of the top manager.

He has defeated all rivals to fill the prestigious role in the company, including Jörg Astalosch, current head of ItalDesign but who could become Skoda’s new Cfo in March 2021.

The beginning of a new Lamborghini adventure is getting closer and closer.
